1. Acceptance

By using bleGuard ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

bleGuard is a privacy awareness tool that uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning to detect nearby recording-capable wearable devices. The App provides:

• Real-time detection of known recording wearables (smart glasses, body cameras, etc.)
• Proximity estimation and exposure tracking
• An AI-powered privacy assistant ("Bodyguard")
• Optional consent broadcasting via BLE (Premium feature)

3. Important Limitations

bleGuard is an awareness tool, not a guarantee of privacy.

• Detection relies on BLE signals. Devices with BLE disabled, in aeroplane mode, or using unknown protocols will not be detected.
• Classification accuracy depends on our device signature database, which is continuously improving.
• Proximity estimates (close / nearby / in the area) are approximate. BLE signal strength varies by environment.
• The App cannot determine whether a detected device is actively recording.
• False positives and false negatives can occur.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

• Use the App lawfully and in accordance with applicable local laws
• Not use detection data to harass, stalk, or intimidate others
• Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App
• Not use the App to interfere with other devices or wireless communications
• Not submit false or misleading detection reports

5. Accounts

You may use limited features without an account. Creating an account requires a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

6. Premium Subscription

bleGuard Premium is available as a monthly or annual subscription:

• Payment is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel your subscription through your device's App Store or Play Store settings
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their respective policies

7. Consent Broadcasting

The consent broadcast feature (Premium) allows you to signal your recording preferences via BLE. This feature:

• Broadcasts a signal that compatible apps and devices can detect
• Does not guarantee that nearby devices will respect your preferences
• Is based on an open protocol — the signal is informational, not enforceable by technology alone

8. AI Assistant

The Bodyguard AI assistant provides informational responses about detected devices and privacy. AI responses are generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies. Do not rely on AI responses as legal or security advice.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, device signature database, and the bleGuard consent broadcast protocol are the intellectual property of bleGuard. The consent broadcast protocol specification is published as an open standard for interoperability.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that detection results will be complete or accurate.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, bleGuard shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to privacy breaches that the App failed to detect.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated through the App.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which bleGuard operates.
