1. What bleGuard Does

bleGuard ("the App") scans for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals from nearby devices to detect always-on recording wearables such as smart glasses, body cameras, and AI-powered wearables. The App helps you understand what recording devices are in your vicinity.

2. Data We Collect

Account Data

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

BLE Scan Data

The App processes BLE advertisement data (manufacturer IDs, service UUIDs, signal strength, device names) from nearby devices. This data is processed primarily on your device. We do not collect or store raw BLE scan data on our servers.

Detection Reports

If you choose to submit detection reports (to help improve our device database), we collect anonymised device signature data — manufacturer IDs, service UUIDs, and classification tier. These reports do not contain your location or personal information.

Bodyguard Chat

When you use the Bodyguard AI assistant, your messages and the current detection context (device types, proximity, duration) are sent to our server for processing. Chat messages are not stored permanently.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to bleGuard Premium, payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive a transaction receipt to verify your subscription status but never see your payment details.

3. Data Stored On Your Device

The App stores the following locally on your device using SQLite:

• Detection events (device type, proximity, duration, timestamps)
• Device signature database (for offline classification)
• Your preferences and settings
• Authentication tokens (encrypted via secure storage)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a feature that requires it (e.g., Bodyguard chat, detection reports).

4. How We Use Your Data

• To provide BLE device detection and classification
• To power the Bodyguard AI assistant with relevant context
• To improve our device signature database (anonymised reports only)
• To manage your account and subscription

5. Marketing Communications

If you opt in, we may send you: (1) Product updates — new features, privacy tips, and device database updates; (2) Offers and promotions. You can manage each preference separately in the app settings or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with third parties except:

• AI Processing: Chat messages may be processed by our AI infrastructure (self-hosted models or Anthropic's API) to generate responses. No personal identifiers are included.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect rights and safety.

7. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. Detection history is stored only on your device and can be cleared at any time from Settings. You may delete your account by contacting support.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted communications (TLS), secure token storage, password hashing (bcrypt), and JWT-based authentication with automatic token rotation.

9. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your account data via the App
• Delete your on-device detection history from Settings
• Request account deletion by contacting support
• Use the App without an account (limited features)

10. Children's Privacy

bleGuard is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
