bleGuard ("the App") scans for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signals from nearby devices to detect always-on recording wearables such as smart glasses, body cameras, and AI-powered wearables. The App helps you understand what recording devices are in your vicinity.
An account is optional. If you create one, we collect your email address. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with Google or Apple; we do not store a password.
The App processes BLE advertisement data (manufacturer IDs, service UUIDs, signal strength, device names) from nearby devices. This data is processed on your device. We do not collect or store raw BLE scan data on our servers.
The App uses your device's location to record where your saved devices were last seen (for example, where your earbuds disconnected). With your permission ("Allow all the time"), this includes when the App is closed or not in use, so a sighting recorded in the background carries an accurate position. Location is stored with each sighting on your device. It is sent to our servers only if you use Premium backup of your saved devices (see below). Location is not used for advertising and is never sold.
If you have Premium and are signed in, your saved devices (name, type and Bluetooth identifier) and their sighting history (time, signal strength and location) are backed up to our servers so they survive a reinstall or a new phone. Deleting a saved device removes it from the backup.
If "Contribute data" is turned on in Settings, the App submits anonymised reports about detected recording devices to improve our device database: manufacturer ID, service UUIDs, advertised device name, classification tier, average signal strength and duration. These reports contain no location and are not linked to your account. You can turn this off at any time.
When you use the Bodyguard AI assistant, your messages and the current detection context (device types, proximity, duration) are sent to our server for processing. Chat messages are not stored permanently.
The App sends error and performance reports to our servers so we can keep it reliable. These include the app version, device platform, technical error details and, when you are signed in, your account ID. They can include Bluetooth identifiers of your saved devices. They do not include your location.
If you subscribe to bleGuard Premium, payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive a transaction receipt to verify your subscription status but never see your payment details.
The App stores the following locally on your device using SQLite:
Uninstalling the App deletes this data. It leaves your device only through the features described in section 2.
If you opt in, we may send you: (1) Product updates — new features, privacy tips, and device database updates; (2) Offers and promotions. You can manage each preference separately in the app settings or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your personal information with third parties except:
Account data is retained while your account is active. Detection history is stored only on your device and can be cleared at any time from Settings. You may delete your account by contacting support.
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted communications (TLS), secure token storage, password hashing (bcrypt), and JWT-based authentication with automatic token rotation.

bleGuard is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
